Refashion your Words

From bandana to....
...apron! (thank you photobucket)

No way! Have you seen all these posts about refashioning?

Refashioning is when you have a beloved piece of clothing that you revamp! (I don't mean vampire up, btw. Although, that sounds a little cool.)

Take this for instance. You have an old t-shirt, so you cut off the sleeves, add some elastic, and presto...a new skirt. You can change just about anything old in your closet. Pants, to purse; pj bottoms to skirt; old shirt to new. It's amazing!!!

The same thing goes from writing. Have you ever shelved any of your writing. You can go back and revamp with editing and revisions! I have heard of may writers, who write something, shelve it, go back, clean it up, and get it published. Really! It can work.

All it takes is a little imagination and time.

I'm off to look through my computer files for some projects that need some refashioning.

What do you think? Have you ever shelved a project, pulled it out and cleaned it up? Do you think it's worth it?

The Future of Blogging

(So, I posted something that I wasn't done working on. Sorry about that.)

Since we're talking about it, what do you think about blogging?

I had the opportunity to hang out with a group of amazing blogging ladies last week. There was talk about the different social medias out there (blogging, fb, twitter).

But the center of conversation was if blogging was dying.

There was mention that there weren't as many comments or people connecting anymore. Yes, blogging helps us connect with people all over the world, we can speak our minds, and we can inform others of things that are happening not only in our professional lives but also our personal lives.

But then there was talk about time. (Being a writer has taught me how important time is to my career.) Blogging involves writing posts and connecting with other people, but people didn't have time to put in four hours a day into blogging or searching for people with common interests.

There was talk that FB was faster. It only took a few minutes to leave comments and posting only takes a few seconds. Twitter was the same, plus that's where the agent talk is. The cons to twitter is that it can be confusing.

In my personal opinion, I don't think blogging is dying, but slowing down (most of my writing-blogging friends aren't posting each day like they did when they first started blogging). But blogging offers a unique outlet for information. It allows more than a 140 letter message, permitting us to really speak our minds, let other's know what's happening, or post a volume of pictures to embarrass our kids when they're older (okay, you can do that one on FB too).

So put your two cents in. What do you think about blogging? Is it on it's way out?  Slowing down? Outdated like an old broken down Gremlin (you know, like that old car my friend used to pick me up for high school in). What do you think?

Trying to Reach Out & Sheri's give-away

Sheri is one of the nicest bloggers I have meet. She has great news and an awesome giveaway today. SHE HAS AN AGENT!!!  Check out her blog.

We are all celebrating over on her blog. Please come over and meet her if you don't know Sheri already. ;)

On another note, last week I was saddened from a post from good bloggy friend. She was upset by the lack of outreach she was receiving.

Even though I'm not at a place where I feel I can help her much, it did make me think. I realized I needed to do more to reach out and share other's news.

This is something I'm terrible at.

But it's something that I've always wanted to do, so I'm doing it!

So I'm starting a "news" board over on my right side bar. If you get and agent, if your book is coming out, if you've finished your first draft...let me know! I'd love to share it!!!If you have a give away, whatever, let me know.

I know it's not much, but I hope that starting small will help. Plus, I love the bloggy love. Just saying.

Have a great week everyone!

Labor Day Marathon...movie marathon that is.

So, I spent the whole day yesterday re-watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy (yes...it really did take all day).

I love the conflict in that story between the good and the bad, the choices that each character has to make and the depth of the story line  (I didn't fall asleep once...okay, just once when they were in the forest).

Plus it was my daughter's first time to see the movies. Maybe now this will make better sense to her:

Hee hee hee. That's awesome!
