Summer, I will miss you...a little

First thing...I'm BACK! Summer was a great break, but it's time to get back to work!

Second, I always feel a little twinge of sadness when my kids have to go back to school in the fall.
I’ll miss our daily activities and spending leisurely moments by the pool with them.

This is the last year we will all be together as a little family. My oldest is moving from high school to college. Life is changing.

But I can always feel the excitement in the air during this time. The chance for extra writing time, the renewal of adventure. Sometimes I feel like this:
(Oooo, I need to buy some school supplies)

So instead of pouting (really...sulking into pillow because my kids can't be THAT old yet), I will look at the bright side of things and my renewed spirit of writing.

How about you? What will you miss about summer? What will you not miss?

Have a great week everyone! I've gotta get my butt in the chair for some good writing time. ;)

A Summer of Vacations

The family and I have had such a great summer! We've taken some vacations that we've been meaning to do for a long time.

For example, we went to:

Dinosaur Park. Rawr!

photobucket (yeah, my pictures are still on my camera)
Goblin Valley (if you take a close look, you can see a ton of little goblin faces on each formation).
Capital Reef (a little hidden treasure).

But the best vacation of all?  The library. I totally got lost in all the new worlds!

It's been a crazy, fun summer. What about you? What vacations have you taken the last year?

It's tomorrow!

If you're a writer/wanna-be-writer, you've got to check out WriteOnCon!

What is WriteOnCon?

"WriteOnCon is a totally free, interactive online Writer’s Conference held annually during the summer... The Conference is designed to give attendees many of the features of a live writer’s conference, but in an online environment. Thanks to technologies like blogging, vlogging, livestreaming, and chats, WriteOnCon connects writers with both industry professionals and fellow peers from the convenience of their own homes. Critique forums allow writers to receive feedback and exposure for their work, and the entire program is designed to be both informative and entertaining." (

I've been to many conferences and this one is no doubt one of the best. so check it out.

Hope you see you there (online, I mean. I'll be the one in my jammies).

Need More Writing Help?

There are a ton of helps out there for writing:

Crit partners, conferences, books, and yes...podcasts.

One of the best podcast out there for authors is Writing Excuses

Brandon Sanderson, Dan Wells, Mary Robinette Kowal, and Howard Tayler come together to make humorous and informative insights regarding the craft of writing.

And did I mention the podcasts are only fifteen minutes long? "Fifteen minutes long, because you're in a hurry, and we're not that smart," according to their website (but let's face it...they really know what they're talking about.)

Subjects range from genre, to voice, to time travel. There is nothing out there they won't tackle.

So try them out. I dare ya!

Have a great week guys and good luck with the writing. ;)
