It's Catching Like Fire

"Like everybody else, when I don't know what else to do, I seem to go in for catching colds." ~George Jean Nathan

Everything’s fuzzy-my head, my hearing, my nose. Yes my friends, I tried to escape it with mega doses of vitamin C, but…it got me. I have a cold.

And not just any cold. It’s the kind that makes you write really boring stuff. The kind that won’t let you think of any kind of awesome action scene, because…let’s face it…I am just too tired to think of fast paced things right now when all I want to do is crawl under the covers and wish this cold away.

And the comments I’m leaving. Oh, why aren’t they more clever? More brilliant? Well, who can be brilliant with wads of tissue sticking out from their nostrils?

So my friends, if I sound too senseless or if I’m late checking out your posts this week, just remember…I am infested. And be careful, I hear it’s catching on.

So tell me, do you still write when you are sick? Do you sit next to your computer with a roll of t-p wads in your hand like me?

p.s. Sara B. Larson gave me a wonderful award this week. Thanks so much Sara (it’s already in my little award pictures)! You totally rock! Please check out her blog and pass on the bloggy love (not the awful colds).(Sorry Sara, I had that e and o mixed up--silly alphabet).

Have a great week everyone.

Oh, I'm at my most brilliant when I have wads of tissue sticking out of my nostrils. :) Lovely imagery there. :)

Sorry you aren't feeling well!!! I don't think I've been sick since I've started writing, especially since I don't get sick often but I'm sure I don't write during that time. I don't write when I'm stressed because the words don't flow!

I hope you feel better soon!

Feel better soon! I'm in the same boat and am home with the flu today. I want to get some writing done but who knows what will come out!

I wish I could say colds are the only reason I'm not writing! I read when I'm feeling fluey. I'm now on my 2nd book this week.

I barely write while I'm well! Hope you feel better soon.

Feel better! And no, I don't normally write when I'm sick, I can't really write well, and it would take twice as long to edit so I just lie on the couch and watch movies. :)

Ugh, I'm so sorry! I hate being sick. :( I hope you feel better soon! And thanks for the shout out. Not that it really matters, and I know you know this and it's probably the cold typing, but my last name is Larson with an "o." ;) Just you know, for accuracy if anyone does try to search me. Congrats again on the award! (I know you already have tons but you have such a great blog, you deserve it!)

Get well soon!!! I'm totally jealous of your dedication in spite of the icky sickness.

When I get sick, I usually weep all day long and snap at anything that moves :) I might brainstorm a lot, but have no concentration for actual writing. *sigh*

Sorry you're sick. I had it a couple of weeks ago. Not fun. Hope you feel better soon.

So sorry you're sick. I've been a little sick too, but I don't think as bad as you. Hope you feel better soon. You're awesome to keep writing through the fog.

You sound like my FB status the other day: They're coming to take me away...hee-hee, hoo-hoo...they're coming to take me away.

Cyber hugs...feel better.

You're the third person to say you have a cold in the last few days. Feel better!

I find it impossible to write when I'm sick too.

Hope you feel better. I like what you've done with the blog!

Dang. Hope you feel better soon, Carolyn. :(

I'm sitting here sniffling and trying to convince myself I'm not getting my first cold in three years too.

But here's my advice to you: succumb! Slip under the covers and sleep it off. :)

*cyber tissues for you!*

Feel better, soon!!!:)

I seem to be coming down with one too. Up late last night with the throat.

I hope my egg craving staves off the worst of it. I always crave eggs when I'm coming down with a cold. They usually help. You might try it:)

Your comments are just fine. Rest is the best.

This was posted a few days ago so I hope you are feeling better by now. If not, try zinc. Works really well on colds.

Oh no! I know I'm way late, so I hope you're already feeling better. <3

I'm sorry you're not feeling well...I love reading blogs no matter what...but writing is different. I have to have absolute silence, well that's not true....my husband and daughter can not be around asking me to do things for them... I prefer to write when no one else is at home, but I can write in a crowded place like on a plane or in an airport as long as I'm alone....

Feel better soon!

Aw, I'm sorry you're sick Carolyn. And can you catch a cold through the computer? With how virulent the bugs have been lately, I almost wouldn't be surprised! ((hugs)) and feel better soon!

Oh, and I dunno! Maybe yes and maybe no. I can't remember. Uh oh. Does that mean I'm getting sick too!

Oh dear, poor you! I find it very hard to write when feeling under the weather (strange saying eh? We're all under the weather really, unless we are on a mountain in which case perhaps we are 'in' the weather? Love the peculiarities of language!) Get well soon!

Ugh, I had this same exact problem last week. My mind just couldn't put two thoughts together. Hope you feel better soon!

I'll tell you a secret: I rarely rarely get sick, so sometimes I actually wish I'd get a cold so I could have an excuse to rest and lie in bed and drink fluids and groan pitifully . . . but, then again, your description just reminded me of how much I detest colds! *laugh*

Feel Better Soon!

I write when I have colds, but I can't promise I write well. I usually stare at the blank screen and then start reading what I've already written. so it becomes editing more than writing.

you have all my sympathy. I HATE being sick! I send you wishes of warm soup and a clear head.

Oh, I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. :(

(wads! he he)

I usually read or lay on the couch and watch movies when I'm sick. I don't even try to write/think.

I hope you keep taking the vitamin C and drink lots of warm fluids and feel better fast.

*hugs*

Awww I hope you feel better!! I've had a cold since last week, so I'm right there with you. Get plenty of rest (as I'm sure you know -- it's funny how people always give each other advice when we have colds, as if we don't know what to do.) :)

Answering your question, I don't write when I'm sick. I'm not able to produce my best work, so I wait until I'm feeling better.
